Morette Equine Hospital is a busy referral hospital located near Brussels in Belgium.
We are part of the Equine Care Group, a fast-expanding international group of veterinary clinics. Our team consists of several board-certified specialists working together with junior vets, residents, and interns. We have a close collaboration amongst each other as well as with our referring veterinarians.
As a second line clinic we have a strong focus on internal medicine, surgery and advanced dentistry
In this context, we are looking for a (young) veterinarian to complete the team. He/she must be polyvalent but has a particular interest for emergency medicine and daily care
The position
- You will be responsible for hospitalized surgical and orthopedic patients:
- performing necessary diagnostics and care
- instituting and adapting treatment
- working closely with our team of intern-veterinarians
- perform related client communication and administration, such as billing, discharge letters and telephonic updates.
- Performing anesthesia 1-2mornings/week
- Assisting in internal medicine consultations
- Taking in daytime emergencies:
- Work-up and instal treatment in horses with colic.
- Work-up and instal treatment in horses with other medical emergencies.
- Examine horses with acute lameness and wounds.
- Take part in the on-call schedule.
- Take part in the extra- veterinarian tasks of the team e.g.
- Contribute to writing newsletters, publications, and content to our webpage.
- Training and supervision of interns, visiting students and veterinarians.

What are we looking for?
- You have a broad interest in all areas of equine medicine with a focus on care-taking, anesthesia and emergency-medicine (which is mostly internal medicine)
- You enjoy working in a clinic environment and you are familiar with the most common medical imaging (radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy) and medical procedures.
- You get excited about looking up and studying with the aim of providing the best patient care.
- You appreciate contact with customers. You try to help them as much as possible with doubts and questions, that are common during the hospitalization of their horse.
- You value teamwork and contribute to a pleasant working environment
- You enjoy teaching intern-veterinarians and you have the patience to support them to improve every day
- You are a positive, flexible all- around person who can adapt to a hectic day where planning can be difficult due to unforeseen events
- You have completed an internship and/or you have relevant practical experience. Experience is crucial as being able to work independently is necessary.
- You speak Dutch and French or you are willing to learn the other national language
